ANCELOTTI HAS FAILED HIS TEAM

On Thursday night, it was a familiar tale for Los Blancos against Atletico, Atleti were compact, defended deep and with robust physicality, took their chances and got the job done against their arch rivals. Madrid fans will point to key mistakes at important times during the game.

THE DEFENSIVE MIDFEILDER:AN ARTIST

In recent times, it is often said that the art of defending is dying in the modern game, that the obsession with free-flowing attacking football by so many managers in the game today has made defending become secondary and people forget the fact that you might score three or more goals and not win

WHATS HAPPENING AT ARSENAL: MY TAKE ON THINGS

Its been a pretty grim couple of weeks for Arsenal starting from the absolute capitulation against Anderlecht to losing our 15-month unbeaten home record to a severely weakened Manchester United team.

FINDING MARCO'S PLACE

It is no secret that Marco Reus’s contract at Dortmund is nearing it’s end. It is also no secret that a release clause in his contract will be activated in 2015. As expected the top teams in Europe will already be scrambling for his signature as he is arguably one of the best and most promising talents in the football universe at the moment.

WORLD CUP THOUGHTS ON MAJOR TEAMS

The world cup is a special event that happens once every 4 years. Here I give my thoughts on the major teams as we head into a football crazy month.
Argentina The south Americans go into every world cup as favourites, and this year, its no different. Argentina have a wealth of options going forward and in midfield, but their lack of options at the back could prove their downfall.
Man to watch: Angel Di Maria
Key player: Lionel Messi
Prospect: Marcos Rojo

Brazil As the host nation, Brazil are heavy favourites for the tournament and will look to add a 6th star to their crest. They have a young and united squad, who all want to do it for their nation. However the pressure may be too much for them to handle if things aren't going their way
Man to watch: Oscar
Key player: Neymar
Prospect: Bernard

England The three lions go into this World cup not as favourites as they usually do, but as outsiders. They have a good mix of youth and experience which could serve well. But considering a group with Italy & Uruguay, and their perennial underachieving exploits at international tournaments its hard to see the Brits go far.
Man to watch: Daniel Sturridge
Key man: Wayne Rooney
Prospect: Raheem Sterling

France Didier Deschamps men are outsiders for this tournament. They have a team full of talent in abundance and would be looking to prove man doubters wrong. France have the habit of being very good when they're good and being very bad when they're bad. Injury to star player Franck Ribery has put a blemish on preparations but they should be able to waiver that disappointment.
Man to watch: Paul Pogba
Key man: Karim Benzema
Prospect: Antoinne Griezmann

Germany Germany have been so close but yet so far in recent times. They may be hoping this year may be their year. The Germans have talent in abundance and also have a good mixture of youth and experience. However, they have problems with the right midfield pairing, most in-form player Marco Reus injured & the risk of carrying just a single recognized striker and this may prove costly.
Man to watch: Thomas Mueller
Key man: Mesut Ozil
Prospect: Julian Draxler

Italy The Neazzuri are hoping to equal Brazil and win it for a 5th time. The Italians are a well drilled outfit and can cope with many situations especially with the players they have. However over reliance on certain players may be their undoing.
Man to watch: Mario Balotelli
Key man: Andrea Pirlo
Prospect: Ciro Immobile

Spain La Furia Roja are the reigning world and European champions. They play a brand of quick, sharp and accurate passing football and are virtually impossible to stop at their best. They however feel very uncomfortable when they play against a physical & brutal midfield. They also look like a team in decline.
Man to watch: Diego Costa
Key man: Andres Iniesta
Prospect: Koke
One thing is for certain, this world cup will have different twists and turns, it will be eventful, there will be partying and most importantly there will be fantastic football on show case
